Overland provided SUE services along Armory Street from the intersection of Genesee Street to the intersection of Taylor Street over CSX Mainline (S-24-016) and CSX Abandoned (S-24-026) in Springfield, MA. Services included utility record research, quality level B mapping of existing subsurface non-gravity utilities, quality level B and C mapping of sanitary sewer systems, CCTV condition assessment of select sanitary sewer pipes, and 12 quality level A utility data points obtained by non-destructive air vacuum excavation at various locations along Armory Street and Albany Street.

Overland then gained access to the CSX Railroad Alignment through a coordinated effort between CSX, MassDOT, Springfield Water & Sewer Commission, and Tetra Tech. Our scope included all permitting and coordination efforts required by CSX to conduct a CCTV condition assessment inspection of the 55” SWSC combined intercepting sewer running parallel and very close to the existing Amory Street bridge abutment wall. This was done in order to verify the horizontal and vertical location of the 55” SWSC brick sewer. Traditional test pitting methods combined with non-destructive air vacuum excavation assistance was used to verify the location of the sewer main.
